Before working with ThinkWave Administrator, you must install the
program onto your computer. Installation is performed using an
installer application. To launch the installer:
o If installing from CD ROM, double-click on Setup.exe
o If installing from downloaded file, double-click on file you have
downloaded (e.g. twa2xx.exe)
Click Next to continue installing, or Cancel to quit installing.
License Agreement

After reviewing the license agreement:
o Click Back to return to the previous wizard screen
o Click Yes to accept the license, and continue installing the
software
o Click No if you do not agree to the License. Installation will not
continue.
Select Destination Location

In this screen, you can select the location to install ThinkWave
Administrator files. The default location is c:\Program Files\Thinkwave\Thinkwave
Administrator.
o Click Back to return to the previous screen in the Wizard.
o Click Next to agree to continue the installation.
o Click Cancel to cancel the installation
o Click Browse to select a new location to copy files.

You can use Browse to select a new folder to install ThinkWave
Administrator files.
Note: In the installation process, some third-party components,
including MSDE (Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine) are installed onto
your C drive, even if you choose a different drive using this
screen. If you want MSDE to reside on a different drive, cancel
installation of Administrator; download MSDE from Microsofts
website; install MSDE according to your preferences; restart the
computer; and launch Administrator installer once again.
Install Complete

Click Finish to complete the Installation.
Restart
It is necessary to restart your computer after installing
Administrator the first time. If you are upgrading from a previous
version of Administrator it is possible that a restart is
unnecessary.

engine hanging, or in-use by another installation instance. |
Restart Computer, and then try running the ThinkWave
Administrator Installer again. |
| If you recently tried to install a different program,
and for some reason, it failed to complete, then Windows
Installer can be locked out from working with this
installation. Cancel or reverse any pending installation,
restart computer, and try again. |

| Installer fails with an Out-of-Diskspace
error. |
Not enough room on the C drive of your computer.

Cancel the installer. Free up necessary space on C
drive. Launch the installer once again. |
| ThinkWave Administrator Installer installs 3rd party
components using default runtime installers in addition to
Administrator application files. These include XML
components and MSDE. Therefore, even if you have chosen to
install Administrator onto a drive other than your C drive,
you still need enough room on your C drive for these
components to install. |
You can manually install MSDE or Microsoft SQL onto your
computer in advance of installing ThinkWave Administrator.
This way, you can define which drive the database components
install to. Check the Microsoft Web site for MSDE
downloading instructions, or for MS SQL licensing terms. |
| Installation fails with a cannot find .msi file error. |
A previous version of Administrator had been installed
onto your computer, and the current installer cannot
uninstall it automatically. |
Uninstall previous version of ThinkWave Administrator
using Control Panel | Add Remove Program. Restart Computer,
and try installing again. |
| After completing Installation, Administrator
cannot connect to database. |

Restart your computer, then launch Administrator again. |

Disable Anti-Virus, and then reinstall Administrator. |
If you had a previous version of Administrator
installed:
1. Uninstall ThinkWave Administrator using Control Panel |
Add Remove Programs.
2. Delete all the files in the following two folders:
a. c:\program files\Thinkwave\Thinkwave Administrator
b. c:\program files\Common Files\Thinkwave
3. Restart your computer.
4. Disable any anti-virus, Fortress, or Deep Freeze programs
you may have on your computer.
5. Reinstall Administrator.
Note: If you have ThinkWave Educator installed on your
computer, youll need to reinstall it after performing step
2b.

Enable error logging in Administrator using Help | Log
Errors On. Repeat the mistake. Find the file, TWA.log on
your desktop. See which component failed. Make a search of
your computer to find that component. Then run the following
two commands in Start | Run:
regsvr32 /u [path]\[component]
regsvr32 [path]\[component]
